Fawn had jogged most of the way back to her home, but in the end barely made it, she had to walk the rest of the way, stopping a few times to catch her breath. It wasn't hard to live with her heart, just at times it decided to act up. Today was one of those days. It was beating in odd rhythms and making it hard to keep her lungs in check and her blood flow as well. It was a dangerous condition to have. Though, it wasn't a disease, it was usually caused by something else, for her it was her heart valves were never proportioned correctly. But, with the medication the doctors gave her, it wasn't a life threatening thing. As long as she stayed on her medication.
But, right now, that wasn't the problem that was swirling around in her head. Right now, she worried about how her meeting went with Manasseh. Had her abrupt departure wounded their newly forming friendship? Or were they even forming one? She really hoped it hadn't rubbed him the wrong way. She needed a new friend. Her other friends were still back in Mississippi. Where she left them. She hadn't talked to either of them in years. So, if she screwed up this friendship or any others, she was going to die an old woman with just her dog and horse. Sure, that wasn't a problem, but not everyone wanted that and she was one of them.
She reached home and climbed the stairs and grabbed her medicine that was sitting innocently on the kitchen table where she left it. She sighed in relief and grabbed the manila colored bottle and took her water bottle and quickly took her meds and then sat down at the counter, letting it work its magic before she watered and fed Unique and then went out to check on her horse, Gasmask and returned to the house to shower and cook herself a meal. After she finished, she immediately went to bed. Now, she just hoped Manasseh had a good gauge at time. She hoped she did too. She completely forgot to tell or ask him what time would be best.
The next morning, Fawn woke early as usual and showered. She always did, it woke her up and got her ready for the rest of the day. Once she was done there, she went and fed and watered Gasmask and returned to get dressed. She wore her normal attire. Skinny jeans, knee-high boots and a tank-top with a leather jacket thrown over it. Her hair was down and waved, like usual unless she was jogging of course. Once she was ready, she fed and watered Unique and locked the door behind her. She hoped two o'clock wasn't to later or early for Manasseh. Either way, she loaded up in her BMW and drove towards the Cafe.
Fawn pulled up and got out, scanning the area for any signs of Manasseh, but found none and she moved towards in entrance. Her shift started in three hours, but that didn't mean she couldn't sit and enjoy herself and talk with a friend. She just hoped her boss wasn't here today. But, there wasn't a good chance of that. She didn't know why, but the woman rubbed her the wrong way. It was as if Rose hated her guts, and wanted to chew her up and then spit her back out for the vultures to gnaw on later. Sure, Fawn could handle herself around the woman, but that didnt mean she wasn't a bit spooked out by her.
With those thoughts in mind, Fawn entered and scanned the Cafe, there were plenty of people in there but it wasn't crowded. No sign of Rose and she smiled, taking a window seat and settling into a chair when the current waitress came up. She smiled and ordered herself a Mocha Frappe. She loved them. Sure, they were cold, but she's had hot coffee all the time here. So, it was her turn to indulge. When the waitress walked off to fill her order, Fawn looked towards the street, she always got odd looks from the residents of eastern Blackwood. Like they hated her. She caught the glare of one man and held his gaze for a while before she was forced to look away by the waitress. She thanked the woman and began to sip on her Frappe as she waited for Manasseh.

When Manasseh had finished with his solo game of shooting at the B-ball courts yesterday, the man had put away his basketball where he’d found it and went home to his condo thereafter. The man smelled like month old, raunchy corn chips and decided that a shower would do him good. He had a lot of questions buzzing in his brain that night too, and he knew that they would probably remain there throughout the rest of the evening. Sleep wasn’t an applicable option really. Not when Manasseh had a lot on his mind. He’d tossed and turned, put the blankets on, kicked them off, and stared at the ceiling multiple times, to no avail. He had come to Evergreen at 2:00 in the afternoon, and it was around almost 6:00 when he began walking home. Being that they weren’t in Daylight Savings Time, it got darker much earlier than he’d liked, but there were no complaints to be voiced. Manasseh had spent his time well though, and he felt good all over. Though he was very curious about Fawn, he wasn’t gonna lie. However, they say that curiosity kills the cat, never the wolf. He wondered what it was exactly that had made her leave so abruptly, and there was a twinge of guilt forming. He’d done something hadn’t he? Reviewing his past actions, Manasseh didn’t consciously know of anything offensive he did, but everyone was different and so were their offenses. And then he wondered if he’d done something so wrong, then why did Fawn invite him somewhere the very next day? This was quite confusing to him, and Manasseh realized that he was being petty about this whole thing. He finally was able to turn off his brain and allow for some rest. It was very early in the morning when the man finally fell asleep, so he was glad that he didn’t have to work until Wednesday or so of the next week. Even if he did have to work on little sleep, he would still be the very cheery, helpful man that he always was. Manasseh was an anytime person really, neither a morning person nor a night owl either. He just took each day in stride, learning and adapting as he went.
When the sun came into his windows, Manasseh sighed softly and pulled himself from beneath the sheets. He let his feet hang over the side of his bed, and he ran one hand down the side of his face. What was this girl doing to him? She was merely a Human, yet and still she was keeping him up at night and getting him up in the morning. With a smirk, Manasseh began another day. The man slept with his cellphone on his night table next to him and he always checked things on his phone before doing anything. Then he went and handled all his hygiene business next. Music always blared loudly through Manasseh’s home, and his low humming or singing accompanying it. Once he was all fresh and clean, the man looked at himself in the mirror, which was one of his favorite habits. His brown eyes stared deeply into the mirror examining his features. This whole habit wasn’t really because Manasseh was vain or anything. He just liked to take note of his appearance so that he didn’t look disheveled or unkempt. The biggest thing perhaps too, was that he liked looking into his own eyes and seeing what other people saw in them. Eyes are the supposed “windows to the soul” as they say. Manasseh was about to make himself a couple of pancakes and eggs, but decided against it. He would probably get something at the café, so the man grabbed a cup of Simply Orange OJ, a Banana Nut Muffin, and finished quickly. Manasseh hoped like all heck that he wouldn’t keep Fawn waiting, so he grabbed what he needed and headed out the door. Wallet, keys, Rolex, all check. Unfortunately Manasseh couldn’t just walk to the café like he did the park yesterday afternoon, so he revved up his Lancer and drove east bound. Manasseh specifically wanted this car since he was a teenager, and was so very elated when he called it his own only a few months ago. This would be only the second time that the man had even come into this part of California ever, but it wasn’t hard to find his intended destination. He backed the car into one of the available spaces and walked inside. Luckily, Fawn was already there too. It seemed like around 2:00 was their normal meeting time, though they hadn’t planned it either time. A smile lit Manasseh’s face, and he seated himself across the table from his newest acquaintance. “Good afternoon,” Manasseh said calmly.

She fidgeted and looked at the clock. It was ticking by slowly as ever. The second hand pausing only milliseconds before it counted down the seconds of the minutes that the minute hand counted down. The hour hand stood stock still, waiting for the minute hand to cross over it again before it moved on. She looked back at her drink and stared at the mocha flavored syrup sitting in a pretty zig-zag on top of her whip cream. Why was she so worried that he wouldn't show? They just met yesterday for the briefest of moments and if it wasn't for her clumsiness, she would have never even talked to him. They would have never even glanced at each other most-likely. Probably wouldn't have even shared a smile. Now, here she was fretting over if he would show.
She began thinking, like she always did. Not only about why she was worried if he would be a no show. Why should she worry about that? She had a history for blowing others off. Even if she was the one planning the next meeting. She was just like that. Shy. And wasn't too sociable. Sure, she could get out if she wanted to but mostly she didn't want to. Maybe it was a way to deal with her past, though it was as traumatic to her as it would be to others. She took it all in stride, even shooting her brother before he was taken by the rabies like disease that the wolf that attacked him had put in his bloodstream with that nasty bite. Sure, she wondered if it was really rabies. Sure, he was acting completely animistic. He was frothing slightly from the mouth and he was in great pain, even tried to attack her. But the shotgun bullet between his eyes did the job.
" Good Afternoon. " The smooth voice pulled her from her thoughts and Fawn instantly looked up from her Frappe and her face lit up instantly, a bright smile erasing all doubt and the emotions that went through her as she thought on her family. " Manasseh. I didn't think you'd show. " She said, shifting her drink a bit and waving to the waitress. " Would you like anything? She asked as the waitress stopped to finish up with the current customer.
Fawn looked back at him and even though she was a normally shy individual, she wasn't afraid to look into the eyes of others and his had this certain thing to them that interested her. She didn't know how to exactly explain it. They were a deep, dark brown. Beautiful eyes in her opinion and there was this mystery to them. Like he was secrets that he was not telling her. She had her own. So she was completely okay with that aspect of him. Everyone had to have their little secrets. Even if others pried, they had to stay strong and keep those certain secrets close to heart. Even if they wanted so badly to tell someone else. To maybe let if off their chest or off their conscious. So, she would not pry, at least until they knew each other a bit better.
" Okay, we didn't get off on the right foot yesterday. I'm terribly sorry for jetting out like that." She said, taking a small sip from her Frappe before continuing. " It had nothing to do with you, I promise. " She smiled afterwards and leaned back in her chair, crossing her legs beneath the table. " How long have you lived in Blackwood?" She asked as soon as the waitress came up, taking his order. Fawn took the spoon from her's and took a bite from the icecream that made up most of the drink as she waited for the waitress to move along. She was always paranoid about talking around people she didn't know. Manasseh was an exception. She knew him. A little. But she defiantly knew him more than she knew the blonde waitress.
As she waited, she self-consciously took a look around for any signs of her boss. Finding none, she turned back to Manasseh.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Time was passing by and there was nothing to stop it. It seemed like in this world, most things could be paused, prolonged, or prevented. But not time. It was virtually unobtainable, and so one had to make the best of it. Manasseh hated being late anywhere, it was one of his biggest pet peeves. There was this thing about bursting in the door like a crazy person and then people look down on you. After you’re late once, other seemed to brand you that way. “Oh don’t worry, so and so will be late anyways,” they say. However, being that a set time wasn’t made for his and Fawn’s meeting, Manasseh didn’t feel too bad for arriving after her. He technically was still on time, and glad that both of their timing was perfect. When he came in, the man just watched the woman happily. The rest of the folks in the room really didn’t matter to him right then and there. He was focused solely on Fawn Wolf and she was it. The end all be all.
Manasseh wouldn’t dream of standing anyone up in his entire lifetime. He had that happen before one time to him, and it devastated him and angered him beyond belief. He had known the girl since fifth grade, and she still wasn’t accountable to him in the slightest. There was no call to apologize, no excuses made, nothing. Manasseh lost all respect for the other girl, but that’s why she wasn’t sitting here with him today. And there Fawn was, waiting for him. Just as he had pictured her. What a wonderful way to start another day. He didn’t know what the other girl’s problem was, but that was all in the past. He’d moved on to bigger and better things. He deemed himself successful and there was no turning back. Although he had his share of difficulties too like the tumor forming on his brain, but there was nothing that was going to stand in Manasseh’s way now.
“Me? Not show up and leave you alone? Nah, you’re stuck with me now. You’d better get used to this face, because you’ll be seeing a lot more of it,” Manasseh said to Fawn with a chuckle. He smirked at her playfully, and waived his eyebrows in a flashy manner up and down too. To the waitress who approached the table as he sat down, the man politely asked for a yummy cinnamon roll. Yeah it wasn’t much, but it would be sufficient for now. Manasseh wanted to get settled first. If he needed anything else, he would ask the lady for it later. If she was kind enough to do it for him, Manasseh would surely give her a good tip. But the man was in no rush whatsoever, because he wanted to learn more about his new friend as much as he possibly could. He already enjoyed the time that they’d spent together, despite it only being a little while. They seemed to have some of the same interests, though they belonged to different species. How could a true friendship form between a Human and Werewolf? Manasseh didn’t know. But he wanted to sure try to make this work. There was a special quality about this girl that affected him more than any others.
When their eyes met, Manasseh stopped dead in his tracks. He was completely silent for a moment just staring back at Fawn. More. That was the operative word, more. Manasseh wanted to be closer to her and keep her there. ‘What the-? Manasseh pay attention!’[/i] his mind screeched at him. He snapped out of it, and cleared his throat softly. “My bad. Uh…it’s alright. I understand. I’m glad I didn’t upset you, for a minute there I didn’t know what happened. Is everything good now?” he asked, tilting his head in his typical manner. It went to the left and then back to the center. It was one of his most signature Werewolf gestures and came naturally when he was changed. Werewolves were very, inquisitive and attentive, yes?
Yeah right, it was more than a minute for sure that he’d thought about what happened, but Manasseh wasn’t going to tell Fawn he’d been obsessing over it half the night. He’d lost a good amount of sleep wondering what went on, but his attributes didn’t show it. There were no bags under his eyes or anything of that sort to date. Lucky him.
“I’ve been in Blackwood since I was about eighteen, so ten years. It doesn’t feel like it’s that long though surprisingly,” the man said in response to Fawn’s last question. Ten years. Nine years since he figured out what the heck was going on with him. Man how the time flies. [/sup]

Fawn nodded at his question. She was perfectly fine now that she had the meds in her system. Doctors said she was lucky, most people with a 'sickness' like hers would be bed-ridden by now. Or should have been since she was seven. She was, to them, a medical miracle. But, to herself, she was simply being kept on this earth for a better purpose, though she may not know what that purpose was yet. She figured she'd find out when she was suppose to. That was probably the reason she had arrived here, in Blackwood. She turned her mind back to Manasseh then.
Eighteen Years. Quite a while, she supposed. Longer than her by far. She hadn't ever stayed in a place that long. She tended to move, though she never knew why. When she got the urge to move, she moved. A bit of drifter. She smiled lightly at the thought but brushed it off. That was when it was hard to make friends, but here...in Blackwood, she seemed to be making them left and right. Maybe these were her people? She didn't know, but the mysterious Blackwood was definitively her home.
And Manasseh. A devilishly handsome young man that had been nothing but kind to her. She couldn't help but feel her heart flutter at either the sight and/or thought of him or if it was her heart problems that was making her flustered. " Eighteen years? Wow. I haven't even been here a year. But, there is just something about Blackwood that makes me want to stay. Something...alluring. " She spoke, watching the waitress bring him his cinnamon roll and take her empty class and return with a ice-cold glass of water. She wasn't that hungry, so she would wait for lunch. Plus, she wasn't a big eater any ways.
She looked up at him as he ate, questions rattling away in her brain. She had never wanted to get to know someone so badly as she did Manasseh and despite her solitary attitude, she made the jump and straightened herself. " Anything you wanna do besides sit around the cafe all day? Maybe go on a hike? I'm an outdoors type person. I like to mingle with the wildlife, if you get my meaning. " She said and leaned forward on the table slightly.
ooc; sorry for the shortness!

He still didn’t know what the heck was going on really yesterday, why she had to rush out like that, but he didn’t plan on ever knowing any time soon. Personal business was just that, personal business. Perhaps he’d caught her in the middle of something? No, she wouldn’t have been nonchalantly tossing the ball to Unique. Or maybe she was just wasn’t used to him all that much? Some people take time to learn what others are about. That was the main conclusion that he could draw up. It really didn’t matter anymore though, everything was cool and situated now. The man did a mental shrug to himself, and put the thought out of his mind completely. If she really wanted to tell him what happened in detail that was her own prerogative. He wasn’t here to interrogate or intimidate her. Rather he was here because she requested him to be and he enjoyed her company very much so.
This man very well could be considered a homebody in more than one respect. He didn’t like to move from place to place really, constantly uprooting himself and forcing himself into new situations with new people. Manasseh stayed where he felt comfortable around people he felt comfortable with, and that was that. The man had absolutely no problem making new friends wherever he went, but why try to fix what ain’t already broken? A lot of the memories he had and shared with his best friends were in the state of Tampa Bay, Florida. They themselves still lived there to this very day, one and all. The only reason that he had left his first home in Florida was because of his brain tumor. If that pest hadn’t shown up unexpectedly, he would be all the way across the states right now on the other coast. However, circumstances made him change his location, and not only that. They changed his life forever. The impact of one single item was miraculous and baffling. At times, Manasseh couldn’t believe it himself what it had done to him. But facts were facts, and here he was. California. Sitting in a coffee shop and eating with a new friend. He could very possibly visit his old friends very easily in the near future, but this was considered home for now. The prospect of actually moving back to Florida hadn’t crossed his mind. His parents and his one little sister lived here now anyways and he wasn’t about to leave them for his friends.
Manasseh smiled at Fawn across the table as she described her present living status. He knew for a fact the moment that he’d laid eyes on her that she was new. And, not only that, he knew for a fact that she was a very lovely person. There are some cynics out there in the world that say that being attracted to someone is impossible at first sight. Yeah right. The man had witnessed it himself only hours before. He was living proof of that hypothesis being shattered. And that was all thanks to a neon green tennis ball more than likely covered in undesirable amounts of canine slobber gone awry. Manasseh spoke after Fawn did saying “Well actually it was only ten years, but fair enough. I like this place a lot…too.” His last word sort of drifted off, as he caught on to Fawn’s tone and understood. So they were on the same page here, eh? Good. That made Manasseh’s life just a little bit easier. He liked this woman; he liked this woman a lot.
The cinnamon roll that had been placed before him only lasted so long, and before he knew it Manasseh’s treat was gone. He pushed the small plate to the side and listened intently to what Fawn had to say. A slow nod was produced and a sly smile formed on the man’s lips. “Yeah, that sounds like fun, hiking is…fun. What kind of wildlife?” Manasseh said, and involuntarily gripped the table at her last words. Did she know? What in the heck had tipped her off? The man played back their adventures from yesterday and today, and he hadn’t slipped up at all. Oh well, she was still hanging around, and she said that she liked wildlife, so obviously she wouldn’t be bothered by his other form, should he choose to reveal it so soon. Manasseh knew what she meant when she said what she said, but he had to admit that he was a little shocked. She was good, too good, and a very good prospective fit for him indeed.
