The Lake - 1 Viewing Now you can't go to Big Bear Lake without going to the lake...The entire town circles the damned thing after all. For whatever reason you visit the lake is a pretty sight and depending on the season the water might be quite nice to swim in. |

Village Pizza This may be one of the smallest towns in California, but it certainly has one of the tastiest pizza shops around-stop by this little hole the in the wall and order a slice! |

Castle Rock Legend has it that some Native American broad threw herself off this giant rock way back when and now haunts the woods surrounding it. People love trekking up the trail to this mammoth and climbing all the way to the top for what some say is the best view on the whole mountain. If you're interested, pull off the side of the road and take a hike...who knows what you might find. |

Big Bear Zoo It's certainly not the most glamorous zoo in the world, but it has plenty of animals native to North America - bison, wolves, deer, foxes, hawks, owls - and is fun just the same. There's a gift shop right at the entrance and a stage in the back where a trainer brings an animal out to get up close and personal with visitors. |

Cabins One of the favorite lodging choices for tourists. Cabins just fit with the atmosphere. They can be expensive but they're lots of fun, especially when you get a whole group of friends together. |

Hanna Flats Campground Just a good drive down the road from part of Big Bear called RimForest is a charming little camp ground nestled deep in the forest. If you're awake early enough in the morning, just before it starts getting light, then you can hear the lumber trucks rolling up and down the road...which isn't really all that charming, but you take what you can get. People like to think these woods are docile, but every camper has heard rumors of bears nestled where the trees are the thickest... and everyone knows about the mountain lions. |
