I'm in the process of doing my Character Application, and I've come to a bit of a snag.
Must I absolutely use a Face claim?
Because, honestly, I can draw my own characters. As an artist, I prefer to use drawings I've done of my own characters.
So, is it a requirement that I use a Face Claim? Or, since I already have a visual reference of my character (Human and Werewolf forms), can I just use that?

Hi Cookie! Welcome to the site! I'm so sorry I didn't get to this earlier.
First off, your drawings are absolutely amazing, and I'm completely jealous of your talent!
Unfortunately I'm going to have to say yes, a face claim is required. The way I see it, this site is kind of like a human roleplay and a wolf roleplay put together and not so much a complete fantasy site (which is where I've seen drawings allowed). When someone's roleplaying with a person who has just a drawing of a character instead of an actual playby it's harder to imagine the scenario. It's like a movie, and all the characters are played by actors/actresses.
The other thing is that the wolf isn't realistic, and it needs to be.
I'm really sorry because I get that you're more comfortable drawing your characters, but maybe you can make finding a suitable playby part of the fun c: Also I've definitely found that playbys grow on you - I've used ones I never had before and somehow they ended up sticking with me.
I've done a little research for you and found a few options for Micki: Brooklyn Sudano Jennifer Freeman Rosario Dawson (though she might not have the right hair)
Sorry about this again Cookie! I'd gladly make you a signature and avatar with the playby and wolf of your choosing if you decide to stick around.

Hi! Thank you for responding.
I think I understand. I will find a face that works for Micki.
However, I must at least say this. A character is an original creation, and no actor or actress will ever fully grasp a character. It's like Christian Bale playing Batman/Bruce Wayne. He'll never fully get the character as he is not the character. He is a representation of the character. I have role-played on many forums - human, wolf, fantasy, and fandom - and not once have I ever been told that "original character art" was not allowed. In fact, it was encouraged.
And to me, Micki is most honest to herself in her drawing. No actress will ever truly represent her.
However, I will abide by the rules of this forum if I am to stay. I would like to branch out and role-play with others. So I will give "Play bys" a chance.
Thank you.

Oh, I completely get that. It's like trying to compare a book to a movie - the person cast is good, but they can't fully embody the character you read about. It's just not possible. It's not bad, just another way of seeing it I think.
But honestly I've never been on a forum that does allow original character art as the sole form of representation, so I find that very interesting. I don't think you need to get rid of the art entirely, we just need a pb to go off of too. So leave the avatar and I'll make you a signature, how's that sound? :3
And just to add on: another idea I had about her is perhaps you can tweak the character a bit - make her into someone slightly different so you don't feel so uncomfortable playing her this way.

Really? That's very interesting. Then again, I've come across forums that have tons of artists and some that were practically starved for art. So it all depends.
But if you really want to make a signature, it's up to you. I had planned on keeping my art as her signature and avatar. Or crafting something out of the images I had already found. But like I said, that's up to you.
And it's okay. It was just... a little shocking. It's not a big deal. XD
